Alton Winter Beer Festival - 2007

Congratulations and a big thanks to all involed in yesterday's lunchtime session. Superb organisation, excellent beers and good music to boot.
Sandy, Aldershot

Thanks to the organisers, bar staff and the many others who helped out to make this an enjoyable event (even with the unexpected fire alarm break). A nice selection of ales and ciders, impressive venue and well run, not overcrowded so room to move about and excellent bar service - just how a beer festival should be. Made for a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon drinking session, 10 out of 10 - keep up the good work.
Graham, Folkestone

Thank you very much for a very good beer fest, yet again....the committee and all the helpers once again pulled out all the stops to make it so, and the music was fab.
Ken, Alton

Alton Beer Festival - Summer 2005

When you see a column of men looking very determined while making their way through the town towards the Community Centre then it is bound to be the occasion of Alton Beer Festival ..... More than 750 made the trek, and they were not all male by a long shot ..... In all, 3,150 pints of beer were consumed and an estimated £4,000 minimum raised for local charities..... beers came from a variety of breweries .... there were dark bitters and ones that were strawberry coloured, blonde, golden, copper and light amber, as well as session bitters, summer ales, tawny bitter and milds. Mr Whitehead's company supplied three cask ciders, from medium to dry. The beers came from far and wide ..... their strengths varied from an ABV of just 3.7 up to a mind-numbing 7.5. Two new breweries were represented - Surrey Hills with their Shere Drop, and Crondall with Mr T's Wedding Ale...... Judged the best beer in the festival was Shere Drop, the first brew from Surrey Hills Brewery, which was awarded the coveted Slaphead Trophy.

"We have had a lot of happy people through the doors, but as in all our beer festivals, we have had no-one drunk and no fights." "People just come along to enjoy the taste of many different beers and help us to raise money for local charities." Peter Legg

Alton Winter Beer Festival 2005

Television cameras, reports in the national papers - has some sort of scandal happened in Alton? No, they were all reporting on the Alton Winter Beer Festival..... one of the most popular events on the Real Ale calendar. Like the last event six months ago, the festival was a huge success and saw big crowds turn up to the community centre on both morning and evening sessions..... At a time when lager dominates off licences and bars, occasions like the Alton Winter Beer Festival are not to be missed.
